Award-winning Rudbeckia x 'Denver Daisy' (Black-Eyed Susan) is a native cultivar named to honor the 150th anniversary of Denver, Colorado. Perfectly suited for Colorado’s arid climate, ‘Denver Daisy’ thrives in hot, sunny areas with minimal moisture and quickly develops large, eye-catching golden flowers with a deep-red rim encircling a dark brown center. Blooms profusely from early summer to frost, it’s a must-have for pollinator-friendly flowers. A Plant Select® introduction.

Description

Rudbeckia x 'Denver Daisy' (Black-Eyed Susan) is a short-lived perennial usually grown as an annual for best results; it may reseed in the right conditions, but reseeding cannot be guaranteed. It has parentage from Rudbeckia hirta, a daisy native to Colorado, and Rudbeckia ‘Prairie Sun’. For a bright and cheerful look, combine with large, feathery grasses, or contrast with dark blue or purple Penstemon for color contrasts. This sturdy plant is also perfect for container gardens where it stands tall and proud among other companions. Rudbeckias are a favorite of butterflies, bees, and beneficial insects, and birds love the seeds. Introduced by Plant Select® – waterwise, garden-tested plants proven to thrive in the high plains and intermountain west for more beauty, with less work. Grand Prize Winner of the 2010 American Garden Award.
