Description

Atriplex confertifolia (Shadscale Saltbush) is a hardy shrub native to the lowest and driest parts of the Great Basin and the Intermountain West. It occurs from western Texas northwest to California, Oregon, and Montana, and northeast from Texas to North Dakota, including Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, and Utah. Shadscale saltbush scrub is a major community within the Mohave Desert. Its subtle, muted color palette of the silvery foliage blends seamlessly with the natural surroundings of deserts and dry regions.

Commonly found on dry slopes at high elevations ranging from 4,000 to 7,000 feet, Atriplex confertifolia prefers well-drained soils and full sun. This xeric plant requires very little water once established; overwatering can be detrimental, so allow the soil to dry between waterings.
Cutting propagated; all female plants.
