Description
Salvia argentea (Silver Sage) is an eye-catching foliage plant with fuzzy leaves generously covered in silky white hairs, giving them a soft, velvety texture. The foliage forms a compact rosette, with white flowers emerging on long candelabra-like stems in early summer. Originating from the eastern Mediterranean region, Silver Sage is well-suited for waterwise gardens and xeriscapes.
Salvia argentea is a biennial or short-lived perennial. Often grown as an annual, it can be propagated by seed or rooted offshoots. To encourage foliage growth and perennial tendencies, cut off flowering stems as they appear. It can self-seed to continue in the garden, but it may struggle in hot, humid conditions.
Thrives in high elevations up to 6200 ft.
